New Balance 530 "Childhood Heroes" – A Roadtrip Editorial

Zum Anlass der Neuauflage des New Balance 530 haben wir uns aus der beengten Großstadt herausgewagt und sind in die Idylle des Berliner Umlands gefahren. Hier wollen wir unsere Kindheitserinnerungen erneut zum Leben erwecken und begeben uns auf die Spuren, welche einst unser Vater vor 20 und mehr Jahren mit uns bestritten hat.

Aus der Ich-Perspektive machen wir uns auf die Reise und halten alle Momente dokumentarisch fest. Wir besuchen die Orte in die wir uns als Kinder verliebt haben und begeben uns erneut an unseren liebsten See, versteckt tief im Wald, auf keiner Karte verzeichnet. Wir stürmen erneut die Berge hinauf und versuchen die dicksten Fische zu angeln. Wir sind auf den Straßen unterwegs in einem Oldtimer, ähnlich wie ihn unser Vater damals fuhr und fühlen uns jetzt selbst wie unsere Kindheitshelden.
Die Tage sind wir unterwegs in Wald & Wiesen und den Abend übernachten wir gern im Auto, das wir lieben und gucken uns nachts den Sternenhimmel an.
Der New Balance 530 spiegelt eben auch genau das wider – er ist wie das Paar Sneaker, dass unser Dad damals trug, für ihn einfach nur ein Sportschuh, irgendwann gekauft in den 90ern – aber wir wollten ihn damals schon immer haben.

Genau dieser Revive aus alten “Dad-Sneakern” ist es, der den heutigen Zeitgeist bestimmt. Der New Balance 530 ist dafür ein perfektes Beispiel und trifft exakt unseren Geschmack. On the occasion of the reissue of the New Balance 530, we ventured out of the cramped metropolis and drove into the idyll of Berlin’s suburbs. Here we want to bring our childhood memories back to life and follow in the footsteps that our father once took with us 20 and more years ago. From the first-person perspective, we set off on our journey and record all the moments in documentary style.

We visit the places we fell in love with as children and again go to our favourite lake, hidden deep in the forest, on no map. We storm up the mountains again and try to catch the thickest fish. We are on the streets in an oldtimer similar to the one our father used to drive and now we also feel like our childhood heroes.

The days we are on the way in forest & meadows and we like to spend the night in the car we love and look at the stars in the dark sky.

The New Balance 530 reflects exactly that – it’s like the pair of sneakers our dad wore back then, for him just a sports shoe, bought sometime in the 90s – but we always wanted this particular pair of sneakers back then.
